REAL LIFE STORIES:

THE B.L.I.S.S. PROGRAM EMPOWERS INDIVIDUALS AND GIVES THEM THE TOOLS THEY NEED TO MAXIMIZE THEIR POTENTIAL ALLOWING FOR A MORE FULFILLING LIFE.

OUR MISSION

To create a better world for our children by providing safe and effective natural solutions to empower bodies and brains to function at their best.

WHY IS YOUR CHILD STRUGGLING?

When you understand the difference in development of one side of the brain compared to the other one you Understand why your child is struggling.
The left brain, the analytic brain, is all about curiosity, seeking for new things… the right brain, the creative brain, is where we have the voice of reason/caution. Both sides of the brain have very unique roles, are very important and interdependent of one another. Due to different factors, one side of the brain can develop faster faster/ slower than the other one .

We use, in functional neurology, the term hemisphericity to describe the lower performing side of the brain. The hemispheric model theorizes that a side of the brain is not firing properly, generally having a different central integrative state from the other side. It is possible to have a developmental difference of up to 3 years between the 2 hemispheres.

For an 8 year old this means that one hemisphere functions at a 5 year old level while the other functions at an 8. you can have a 5 year old and an 8 year old play together and have a good time yet they don't communicate and perform work at the same level.
In the videos below you can listen to Dr. Wagner explain why your child may be struggling and how the B.L.I.S.S. Program can be your solution.

HOW DOES IT HAPPEN?

FUNCTIONAL DISCONNECTION SYNDROME (FDS)
Functional Disconnection Syndrome (FDS) explains the symptoms we see in a long list of neurological issues such as ADHD, learning disabilities, OCD, sensory processing disorder, Asperger’s and Tourette’s syndrome. All these conditions are the result of a brain hemisphericity; the symptoms are the result of the side of the brain and the area(s) affected. Simply, this means that the brain is not developing as it should, not that it is diseased or damaged. FDS can occur at any time during normal brain development, from the womb through birth and growth. There are many causes of FDS including but not limited to genetics, heavy metal poisoning, brain trauma, emotional stress...

During the first visit, we will explore the different factors that can be responsible. Contact us to Schedule your assessment today.

WHO WE ARE?

The B.L.I.S.S. Program is performed by Dr. Burton and Emma Wagner. Dr. and Mrs. Wagner have received specific training, under the direct supervision of Dr. Yannick Pauli, a Swiss doctor, in the natural management of neuro-behavioral disorders.

The principles upon which the B.L.I.S.S. Program are based have been used by hundreds of health care professionals around the world to successfully help thousands of people.

We are the parents of 2 children, 12 and 15 years old, and we understand the concerns and frustrations of parenthood along with the desires for our children’s future success. We are dedicated to offering every opportunity possible, not just to our children but to everyone that we work with, for a happy, healthy and successful future.

HOW CAN WE HELP?

Like a puzzle we first need to find all of the pieces. The initial assessment allows us to pinpoint the side and cause of the brain hemisphericity. with this knowledge we are able to create an individualized program to address the neurologic and nutritional imbalances. By using the B.L.I.S.S. Program we are able to balance the individual parts to create a whole person functioning at their best.

WHO WILL BENEFIT FROM THE B.L.I.S.S. PROGRAM?
Children, adults and elderly people who want better attention, behavior, intellectual and athletic performance will benefit from this program, as well as the families whose home life will greatly improve. We designed the program making it fun and entertaining.

THE B.L.I.S.S. PROGRAM WILL SPECIFICALLY ADDRESS THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:

ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER (ADD/ADHD)
ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) is a condition characterized by developmentally inappropriate levels of inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsive behavior. A diagnosis can be made when there is significant impairment in daily functioning in at least two settings, usually meaning a child’s symptoms are present both at home and at school for at least six months. This is one of the most common conditions that The B.L.I.S.S. Program addresses to help kids overcome the obstacles that limit their success.
ASPERGERS SYNDROME
Asperger syndrome (AS), often described as the mildest form of autism, is a developmental disorder on the autism spectrum. AS is characterized by communication difficulties, social impairments, motor coordination issues, and restrictive, repetitive, and stereotyped patterns of behavior. People with AS tend to have many of the social and sensory issues of those with more severe forms of autism but have average to above average IQ’s and well-developed vocabularies. They may also struggle to understand subtle forms of communication like body language, humor, and sarcasm.
BEHAVIORAL ISSUES
Behavioral issues in children can lead to stress and frustration for the entire family. They often require intervention due to the impact on family life and disruption to everyday activities. A child with significant behavioral issues may exhibit signs of anxiety, have frequent and severe tantrums, be manipulative, and/or be repetitively defiant towards those in authority. Often these children are labeled by teachers, peers, and parents as disruptive, frustrating, mean, or even “bad.” Sometimes children who demonstrate significant behavioral issues are given a formal diagnosis of oppositional defiant disorder. Often behavioral issues are identified along with another diagnosis like ADHD or Asperger’s. In many cases, behavioral issues never receive a formal diagnosis but nonetheless are a major issue in a child’s ability to make and keep friends or succeed in school.
LEARNING DISORDERS
Learning disorders (LDs) are a group of disorders that inhibit the brain’s ability to receive, process, store, respond to, and communicate information. Most children with learning disorders have average to above-average intelligence but often process information differently than others and lead to problems in the classroom. As many as 1 in 5 people in the U.S. are affected by LDs which contribute not only to difficulties in academic performance, but also in developing self-esteem and interpersonal relationships. The types of LD’s are: Dyslexia – a problem with reading Dysgraphia – distorted and incorrect handwriting Dyspraxia – these are problems from speech to balance and coordination Dyscalculia – a problem with basic, fundamental numerical skills

The Program

The First visit

The goal of the first visit is to determine if there is a hemisphericity present along with any neurological and nutritional deficits so that we can establish a specific plan of action to correct it.

During your first visit, we'll begin to answer a lot of your questions so that you can start to understand why your child/ yourself is struggling. We will review different subjective health and behavior questionnaires and perform different objective tests that can take 2 to 3 hours to complete.

You'll need time to fill out the questionnaires before the appointment. Set aside about 30 minutes to conscientiously respond as they will help us make a diagnosis and create the program plan specifically designed for you or your child.

The first visit includes:
  • A Test Of Variables of Attention (T.O.V.A.) is an objective assessment that measures a person's attention while screening for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Generally, the test is 21.6 minutes long, and is presented as a simple, yet boring, computer game.
  • A computerized analysis of your nervous system with the Insight Subluxation Station,
  • A neurologic evaluation,
  • A computerized posture analysis,
  • Perform a full-spine chiropractic evaluation,
  • Kinesiologic testing for food sensitivities and/or toxicities,
  • Appropriate lab tests as required
The specifically designed program plan will follow 2 paths:
  • Neurologic - brain, core, spine
  • Metabolic/ nutrition

Typically the BLISS Program lasts 12 months. These 12 months are spent in the following manner:

  • An Intensity Momentum Phase lasting 3 months with 2 visits per week lasting 60 minutes.
  • A neuro-plasticity support phase of 9 months with 1 visit per month.

The in-office visits are combined with a series of at home exercises.

A full re-evaluation is done after the 3 month intensive phase and at the end of 12 months.

Based on the severity of the problem, the follow-up phase can have a higher frequency than 1x/month. The frequency and duration of the program for complex problems, such as serious developmental delay, certain kinds of encephalopathy, Asperger syndrome and Autism are determined on a case specific basis.
Examples of NEUROLOGICAL stimulation:
  • Chiropractic adjustments are so important as 90% of the nutrition of the brain comes from the movement of the spine.
  • Visual, auditory and olfactory stimulation to target specific areas of the brain.
  • Proprioception exercises to create a good image of the body inside the brain.
  • The Interactive Metronome helps overcome attention, memory, and coordination limitations by improving timing and coordination within the brain and body.
  • The therapeutic ball is used for retraining and reinforcing your core postural muscles. It also helps with balance and coordination.
  • The balance board is used to develop balance and motor coordination skills, weight distribution and core strength. It helps to prevent falls, sports injuries and facilitates rehabilitation.
  • The balance beam is used for gait training and core postural muscle control. We use it in a fun way to help with brain processing.

Metabolic/Nutrition:
There are four nutritional components that we take into account: remove inappropriate foods, repair the gut lining, re-inoculate good bacteria, and restore depleted nutrients.

NUTRITIONAL AIDS

Nothing replaces real food with its micronutrients for feeding the brain and body. We recommend Juice Plus+ like many other doctors to easily increase your whole food nutrition. Click the photos below to learn more, or contact us.
